Forever Our Rivers Foundation is a dynamic regional non-profit organization founded in 2016 by a group of concerned citizens to conserve the watersheds of the Four Corners region. Working together with local communities in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona, Forever Our Rivers has enhanced public river access and hiking trails and restored more than 14,000 acres of wildlife habitat across the Southwest.

Based in Colorado, the Foundation’s focus is to channel funds to protect rivers and streams.

We empower communities to care for their local watersheds. As both a grant maker and grant seeker, we are committed to investing in relevant and effective river restoration activities.


 

Position Details

This is a part-time, 25 hours per week position with opportunity for growth.


The Grant Program Lead will be responsible for managing and monitoring grant administration for a portfolio of programs. This includes both grant-making and grant-seeking. The Grant Program Lead will play a significant role in communications, including the successful promotion of all Foundation programs.

 

Grant Making tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Tracking the status of projects.
  • Maintaining and archiving current and historic records.
  • Managing timelines.
  • Ensuring programs meet proposal conditions and expectations.
  • Maintaining the grants database and ensuring all information is secure, accurate, up to date and available.
  • Handling confidential information with grace; adhere to related organizational policies.
  • Reviewing grant proposals and providing clear and concise recommendations to Grants Committee.

Grant Writing tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Tenaciously researching grant opportunities that align with the Foundation’s mission.
  • Building and stewarding relationships with funders.
  • Drafting polished proposals and supporting documentation.
  • Maintaining historical records and managing timelines.

Communications tasks include but are not limited to:

  • The design of all electronic communications for the organization, including e-newsletters, social media, website, e-invitations, and online fundraising, in partnership with the Executive Director. Creating bulletins, brochures, maps, and other publications.
  • Coordinating and cultivating media coverage for all Foundation programs; drafting press releases.
  • Updating the Communication Plan with associated work plans.
  • Representing the Foundation at public events; creating displays and presentations to build greater connections to the Foundation.
  • Drafting appeals and assisting with timely donor appreciation. Design new fundraising materials and assisting with mailings as part of the fundraising team.

In addition, the Grant Program Lead will:

  • Develop new systems to increase organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Provide administrative support to the Executive Director to ensure the office is well run.
  • Attend and take minutes of board and committee meetings.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned by the Executive Director.

 


 

Qualifications:

You Must Have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in natural resource management, environmental sciences, or related field.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and reverence for storytelling.
  • At least three years of relevant work experience.
  • A high level of attention to detail and the ability to efficiently manage your time across multiple work streams.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills and exceptional customer service.
  • Proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

It’s an added plus if you have:
Experience in graphic design software.
Experience in fundraising and grant writing.
