Healthy Rivers, Vibrant Lives
Our grant programs are designed to be timely and strategic, empowering communities to take direct action in a way that will have a lasting impact.
Our Healthy Rivers, Vibrant Lives Program
Our Healthy Rivers, Vibrant Lives Program supports community-centric river conservation throughout Colorado, Arizona, Utah and New Mexico.
The Southwest is already a dry region—and temperatures are rising faster than anywhere else in the lower 48 states. Rivers, streams, wetlands and lakes all suffer as these snow-melt fed ecosystems face declining snowfall.
Grantmaking through this program focuses on community-inspired projects. All projects must demonstrate inclusion in project planning and execution by actively seeking and valuing a variety of perspectives, backgrounds and experiences from the communities the project will serve.
Our current strategic priorities include:
- Connecting communities to their rivers
- Conservation strengthened by the people it serves, regardless of identity
- Protecting rivers, lakes and streams
- Restoring the dynamic and natural geomorphic processes of freshwater ecosystems
- Safeguarding our way of life
- Collaborative and forward-thinking solutions that protect quality of life for generations to come
