Amy Newfield’s passion for the environment began in elementary school, inspired by two teachers who cultivated her interest in nature. She went on to earn a degree in small business management with a minor in environmental studies, a subject that has remained central to her career in both business and nonprofit work.
A lifelong entrepreneur, Newfield co-founded Living Journeys, a nonprofit supporting individuals affected by cancer. She also opened The Natural Butte, a retail shop and spa, and built her own accounting practice. Since retiring as a tax accountant, she has remained active in the nonprofit sector, serving as Board Vice President of Sustainable Crested Butte and on the Audit Committee of the Gunnison Valley Community Foundation.
Living in Crested Butte keeps Newfield connected to her passion for nature. She and her husband enjoy biking, river running and skiing—activities that deepen her respect for the natural world. She is committed to advocating for environmental conservation and the responsible use of natural resources.
As a member of Forever Our Rivers, Newfield continues to champion the protection and accessibility of one of Earth’s most valuable resources—water.
